Murraylands Case Study - Big River Pork

Big River Pork are South Australia's largest pork abbatior based 10 kms out of Murray Bridge. They currently process over 20,000 pigs per week over 2 shifts and provide these carcasses for South Australian, interstate and overseas markets. The processing factory also exports frozen pork offal to many overseas countries and provides fresh packed pork offal for the Singapore market for the 4 shareholder companies.
The purpose built factory, was commissioned in 2001 and has just recently undergone extensive expansions to its chiller capacity due to increased pork supply.
Big River Pork chose to build in the Murraylands because of available land, water, infrastructure, national transport routes, pork supply and a proactive Council.
